CommonSpirit Health, Nationwide Non-Profit Hospital System, Announces Shaung Liu as Chief Technology and Product Officer
New York, NY — July 13, 2020 Renovata & Company is pleased to announce the placement of Shaung Liu as chief technology and product officer for CommonSpirit Health (CSH), the largest non-profit hospital system in the US. He will be instrumental in driving the company’s transition to the forefront of the technology landscape and creating the healthcare system of the future.
CSH was formed in 2019 by the merging of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health to form a newer, bigger and better hospital system with $30 billion in revenue. “We didn’t combine our ministries to get bigger; we came together to provide better care for more people,” said Lloyd H. Dean, the Dignity Health chief executive officer at the time of the merger.
With 150,000 nurses, physicians, staff and caregivers, CSH is located in 21 states across the continental US. The organization provides $4.2 billion annually in charity care and community benefits—advocating for communities and populations that are vulnerable and underserved. CSH is committed to embracing new technological advances through its 142 hospitals, more than 1,000 care sites and 19 clinically integrated networks.
Liu will lead CSH to continue providing the best care in an increasingly digital world. He will develop a technical and product vision and strategy that focuses on mid- to long-term needs for the company, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business objectives.
“Shaung is a seasoned technology and healthcare executive and entrepreneur with a proven track record of taking startup ideas or existing solutions to the next level,” says Mannie Gill, Renovata & Company partner. “He brings a wealth of experience to CSH, where he will be responsible for developing and managing the technology architecture and working as part of the executive team to define future technology roadmaps.”
Prior to joining CommonSpirit Health, Liu was chief technology officer, hospital and health systems, for Teladoc Health. Before that, he was chief technology officer at StatDoctors, and vice president of software development at Tax Credit Co. He was also chief technology officer and founder of Incentives Advisors, and executive vice president of tax credit services at Workstream. Earlier in his career he held various executive, management and engineering roles at technology and healthcare companies.
