Xapo, a Leading Digital Private Banking Service Company, Welcomes Anouska Streets as Chief Technology Officer

London, England — February 18, 2021 Renovata & Company is pleased to announce the placement of Anouska Streets as chief technology officer for Xapo, a consumer-focused, digital private banking service helping to spread the adoption of digital money in emerging markets around the world. Streets will lead the company’s engineering, DevOps, quality assurance, cybersecurity and IT.

Over the past decade, 4 billion people in the emerging markets lost more than 50% of their purchasing power when measured against the US dollar. This represents a huge loss of value just because of where they were born or happen to live. Xapo’s mission is to provide the quality of service and experience people have come to expect in the western world to the emerging markets—by providing access to international banking facilities, which aren’t controlled by local governments, and enabling them to hold their savings in US dollars or Bitcoin. Historically these services would only have been available to very wealthy in emerging markets via more traditional banking methods. With Xapo, they will now be available to a much wider audience—targeting people with savings of $10,000 or more.

Backed by Greylock Partner, Benchmark, Ribbit and Index Ventures, Xapo is poised for growth and is upgrading its engineering approach in preparation. Over the past six months, the company has moved from a silo-based engineering approach to a fully integrated engineering environment focused on small technical teams with more specialization. Streets will lead this important evolution.

“Anouska has more than 20 years of experience across multiple sectors, including telecommunications, government, finance and insurance,” says Thomas Jepsen, Renovata & Company partner. “She has a proven track record of building, leading, and mentoring high-performing development teams and is comfortable operating at the board level.”

Prior to joining Xapo, Streets was head of platform engineering for Currencycloud, a provider of cross-border payments and collections. Before that, she was vice president of engineering for Fiserv, a financial technology company. She has also worked as head of engineering for FINkit, a cloud native business serving banks, and NAGRA, a professional audio technology company. She started her career as a developer, technology consultant and systems analyst, and has worked at various companies including Monitise, Companies House, Spring Technology, Spring IT Solutions and Capgemini.
