GeoPhy, AI-Based Property Analytics Company, Welcomes Ferenc Szeli as Vice President, Engineering and Michelle Gregory as Vice President, Data Science
New York, NY — September 23, 2019 Renovata & Company is pleased to announce the placement of Ferenc Szeli as vice president, engineering, and Michelle Gregory as vice president, data science at GeoPhy, which provides artificial intelligence (AI)-powered valuations for commercial real estate. In these newly created roles, Szeli and Gregory will lead the engineering and data science organizations into their next phase of growth.
Founded in 2014, GeoPhy developed a proprietary automated valuation platform for commercial real estate that uses data science and supervised machine learning to optimize an unprecedented volume of data in the sector. The company works with some of the largest real estate lenders and investors around the globe, and its technology offers an alternative to the traditional appraiser workflow. The company has 100 employees and offices in the US and Europe.
GeoPhy recently raised $33M in series B funding from leading technology investor Index Ventures, along with investors Inkef Capital and Hearst Ventures. The company will use these funds to accelerate product innovation with more predictive features and UI functionality—and grow its international presence. GeoPhy will expand its coverage of the residential market and include emerging markets where the lack of reliable central registers makes it difficult to collect tax, prove property ownership or secure loans.
Gregory and Szeli will each play a key role in this next phase of the company’s growth. Gregory will be responsible for bringing data science to the production level, building teams with a production mindset to develop different and appropriate models to support a commercial business. Szeli will be responsible for the continuous development and evolution of GeoPhy’s proprietary data management platform, which is a key differentiator for the business.

Prior to joining GeoPhy, Szeli spent more than seven years at Booking.com, most recently as director of software development for the travel fare website and metasearch engine for lodging reservations. Gregory’s previous roles included senior vice president of data science, and vice president of content and innovation for Elsevier—a global information analytics business. Prior to that she was director of social media and data sciences for Innovative Analytics & Training.
